Diyaluma Waterfall
Diyaluma is the second-highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. It is one of the popular waterfalls and it is 220m in height. It has several natural infinity pools at different levels along its length. This is situated 6 km away from Koslanda in Badulla district on Colombo- Badulla highway. And there is a 1-hour ride from Ella to Diyaluma waterfall.
You can go to the top of the waterfall too. The water of Diyaluma is very cold. You can swim there and have fun too. But should be cautious when you swim as it is slippery inside the waterfall.
You better go there with local guides. So, you can learn new things about the waterfall and can get guidance too. This is a stunning waterfall that gives you an unforgettable memory.
Laxapana Waterfall
Laxapana Waterfall is the 8th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. This massive waterfall is 126 m in height. This is situated in the Maskeliya town of Nuwaraeliya district. This place has a historic value too. Ancients believe that Lord Buddha mended his saffron robe when visiting Sri Pada. 'Laxa' means hundred thousand and 'Pahana' means rock. So laxapana refers that how many lamps could be lighted from the power generated using the water from this waterfall.
Laxapana waterfall is formed by the Maskeliya Oya which is a tributary to the Kelani River. This waterfall is 134 km away from Colombo. You can go to the bottom of the waterfall and to the top of the waterfall as well. There are cement steps to the bottom. Though climbing up to the waterfall is bit tiring.
Ravana Falls
Ravana Falls is situated on the roadside of Ella Sri Lanka. There is a beautiful scenario of mountains in front of this waterfall. This waterfall is 25m in height. This fall has named after the legendary king Ravana which is connected to the famous Indian epic, the Ramayana.
This is a popular sightseeing attraction in Sri Lanka. Many locals, as well as tourists, visit this waterfall and they do not forget to capture pictures in this place too. This is 6 km away from Ella railway station and 11 km away from Bandarawela.
There are stalls selling hats and beautiful ornaments to the ones who visit the waterfall. You can swim there and have fun but it is dangerous as it is slippery. So, it is good not to swim.
This cascading waterfall is situated in a cold environment and you can easily access to this fall as it is near to the road.
Baker's Falls
Baker's Waterfall is a beautiful waterfall located in Horton Plains National Park, on a tributary of the Belihul Oya. This waterfall is 22 m of height. You can visit there from Nuwaraeliya and Bandarawela roads. This waterfall looks like steps from different views. This beautiful waterfall is surrounded by a thick forest, tree ferns and montane shurbs. Though this waterfall is not very tall it is very majestic and stunning.
Bambarakanda Waterfall
Bambarakanda Waterfall is the tallest waterfall on the beautiful island, of Sri Lanka. It is 185 km away from Colombo and situated in Kalupahana, Haputale in Uva Province. This waterfall is 263m (863 ft) in height. This ranks as the 461st highest waterfall in the world as well. This waterfall is surrounded by a forest of pine trees which give an amazing view. This is a horsetail-type waterfall. There are leaches in the place where the waterfall is located. So, it is good to wear shoes on your visit to this waterfall. Bathing is not allowed as it is very dangerous. You can capture amazing photographs of the waterfall as well as photos of the stunning nature too.
